Introducing KOMODOKOUTURE

A new section is in the works at Komodokat. 'KomodoKouture' will be featuring all my one-off, super unique and super rare items. There will be a variety of designs from higher-end jewelry, mixed media works, and more complex art pieces and projects that will house my *deeper* creative side, like this customized necklace which has been loaded with over 30 charms (all handmade and painstakingly handpainted --I literally spent hours attaching each charm to a delicate chain and customizing certain ones to suit my weird personality --ha!); some of which are unavailable in my shop and *only* available in what you see here.

Different packaging and labeling will compliment these items and each piece will stand as an individualistic work of art --not available for wholesale, and totally one of a kind. Get ready for some darker items as well, including Elegant Gothic Lolita styled designs, shadowbox art and jewelry which will be incorporating drawings and paintings I have created from the past to the present...

Terri

Fine art and illustration has been my passion ever since I was a wee child. It's no wonder that I am constantly inspired by talented people that populate the world, and my friend Leesa is no exception. Take this drawing of Terri Nunn from Berlin as an example:Her attention to detail and technical skill is amazing. I'm always impressed by her works and her website is an example of an artist that shines with creativity and talent. In addition to plugs via Juxtapose and a drawing for the band, Radiohead, this girl will definitely be famous one day! Visit her at: www.leesaleva.com (used with permission).

Etsy Finds

I don't know what it is about Texas, but I'm feeling like I stumbled upon a goldmine, of late. There are so many amazing people on Etsy, but lately I've noticed that most of my purchases seem to be going towards Texas artists. ('cuz we rule!) Take this custom kokeshi pouch for example, from Etsy Seller Fambee (www.fambee.etsy.com):

This little pouch is going to make my blackberry snuggly safe and super protected from scratches. (screw the bling-bling and tacky gold crap, when you can have something personalized! Oh yeah, and she makes Harry Potter characters too!)

Porn for your waist...

literally...I mean, this corset showed up when I was browsing Etsy and I SNATCHED it up. The designer, Louise Black hails from Dallas, and her style emphasizes the gothic, victoriana/ephemerical sphere of steampunky goodness...Yay Texas! There are so many Etsy sellers that continue to amaze me with their art/craft...It's no wonder I've almost completely given up buying anything in actual storefronts anymore, let alone mass-produced items....Handmade all the way -- and in the way of handmade clothing, it has always been tacky to me when you see 50 people wearing the exact same outfit you have on --LAME!

Horrordance

Horrordance is coming up (date TBA) and I'm in a creative mode thinking about all the groovy things to make incorporating the gory/creepy theme. I'm definitely making more of these:

Oh yeah, and tons of other grotesque related goodies. Calavera skull stretch bracelets in an assortment of colors, creepy bones, blood and guts, maggots, zombies, and maybe some bmovie film themes thrown in for good measure. At any rate, I've got a ton of work ahead of me --I think it would be cool to have a projectile puke charm. I think Linda Blair would like it --especially if the peas in the pea soup had faces :)
